New points scheme to offerRCImembers more flexibility
HOLIDAY exchange specialist RCI is offering points to new and existing members that can be used at any time of the year rather than the traditional one-week timeshare.
The move is designed to give members more flexibility with their holidays. Instead of having to take a week in an apartment of a specified size at their chosen time of year, they can buy points to be used against any accommodation, flights, cruises, or car rental.
They can also opt to take a short break or save their points to use against a longer holiday. Suppliers that have linked up with RCIinclude British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Avis and Posthouse Hotels. An RCIspokeswoman said: “We have 225,000 members, which gives us a lot of buying power.”
Some 80% of members buy their travel through RCI. She added that many have exchanged their week’s timeshare for points in the pilot scheme that has been running for a 12-month period prior to this month’s official launch.
