Times have changed at Going Places

As a former employee of Going Places, I was appalled when I visited my previous place of employment in Bracknell, Berkshire, recently.

I had already booked my holiday but I was staying with friends who are travelling with me. We wanted to know the flight times, so I suggested we pop in to Going Places to see if they could check viewdata for the flight times.

As I walked into the office the first thing that struck me was no-one acknowledged that I had even entered the premises. On looking around the office, I noticed none of the members of staff was wearing any sort of clothing that resembled a uniform.

There were three staff in the shop. One was serving a young lady; another was serving a group of youngsters who were all crowded around his desk and had their feet on chairs and on desks.

A young girl was on the phone when we walked in, but had since finishedher conversation and seemed to bedoing nothing.

I asked if she could check the flight times from Bristol to Kos and she asked “Have you booked your holiday here?”. When I said no she told me the relevant information would be on my paperwork.

I explained that I was visiting friends and, after a lot of huffing and puffing, she got up and stomped to the filing cabinet, where she got out a Holidays For Less brochure.

A few minutes after entering the flight and accommodation codes she told me the Airtours system was down and she couldn’t help me.

Having worked for Going Places for five years I know how strict the dress code was and how strict the company is on customer service.

Since the upheaval of moving the head office to Rochdale, it seems to have lost its principles.

I am glad that I have moved from a multiple to an independent. At least Iknow that we offer total customer satisfaction and we are a smart and efficient office.
