JMC warns clients of terrorist danger
JMCHAS joined Thomson in putting up notices in all its Spanish resort hotels warning about the latest bombing campaign by Basque terrorist group ETA.
The operator said it had acted upon advice from the Foreign Office and would be warning clients of the possible risks at welcome meetings.
“We will be warning them to be extra vigilant,” said a JMC spokesman.
“We will be putting notices up in hotels as soon as possible.”
The Basque separatist group announced on March 30 that it would be targeting tourist areas this summer. Car bombs have exploded in the Catalonian coastal resort of Roses, near Girona, killing a policeman, and in Gandia near Valencia. Attempts to explode bombs in Zaragoza and Malaga have failed.
The Federation of Tour Operators has not issued instructions to members and is referring them to the Foreign Office. Airtours and First Choice have both said they are monitoring the situation.
