&#42 worldchoice board

Wrexham-based Delmar Travel Worldchoice partner Ann Anglesea and Lincolnshire-based Deeping Travel director John Lawrence have been voted on to the Worldchoice board.

&#42 Lynch dropped

Visitscotland, formerly the Scottish Tourist Board, has dropped newly appointed chief executive Rod Lynch. The tourist board was unhappy that Lynch also wanted to remain chief executive of Stansted-based Global Supply Solutions.

&#42 decrease in profits

P&O Princess Cruises has reported a sharp drop in operating profits for the first quarter of 2001 compared to the same period last year. Profits dropped from $60.1 million in 2000 to $32.7 million this year.

Direct Holidays was awaiting the decision of ABTA’s code of conduct panel as Travel Weekly went to press. Direct Holidays caused outrage with its anti-agent adverts earlier this year. A fine from ABTA, rather than expulsion, is the expected outcome.

Gill Airways has regained its financial independence after a management buyout and a £4 million injection from the Bank of Scotland.

Kuoni managing director Sue Biggs is to become vice-president specialists UK and North America at the end of this year when current vice-president Peter Diethelm steps down. From next January, Diethelm will take on the part-time chairmanship of Kuoni UK, US subsidiaries Intrav and Clipper Cruise Line and the operator’s hotels in the Caribbean.
