THE NORTH West Tourist Board has come out in favour of plans
to build a Las Vegas-style casino resort complex in Blackpool.
Developers want to build a £130 million Egyptian themed
casino in the town and hope long-term to construct a further five.
The NWTB has pledged to work with private and public
partners to ensure the scheme gets the go-ahead. It points to research by
Manchester University that claims 25,000 jobs would be in created as a result.
NWTB chairman Anthony Goldstone said: “It’s vital to make
sure we remain competitive with other world resorts. By allowing wider access
to casinos it will create more markets especially from overseas.”
