Pegasus offers agents new tax billing scheme

HOTEL technology specialist Pegasus is planning to roll out an automated Value-Added Tax billing mechanism for travel agents this summer.

Senior vice-president of Pegasus Commission Processing, Jeff Bzdawka said: “Agents will not have to create their own invoices any longer.

“The system will generate the necessary documentation required by Customs and Excise. Agents will find this hugely useful in cutting down on paperwork.”

Bzdawka claimed that the system would allow hotels to pay agents VAT along with their commission every month. He said that at present, some agents had to wait four to six months for VAT payments.

Pegasus also intends to introduce an electronic reconciliation and tracking system for agents this April.

The system is targeted to extract information about hotel bookings and commission from the 4,400 agents that Pegasus works with in the UK.

“We track hotels already. Now we can track agents,” said Bzdawka.

Pegasus is presently trying to recruit up to five large agency chains to adopt the new system.
