AIRTOURS has reported a rise in operating profits of more
than £20 million for the quarter ending June 30.
The figure was revealed to be £26.6 million for the quarter,
up from £2.1 million in the same period last year. Its North American charter operation
made a profit of £5 million and remains on track to achieve profitability later
this year.
Sales for the period are strong with bookings up 12% in the
UK, 2% in Scandinavia and group bookings for this winter season 9% ahead of
forecasts and group bookings for next summer 8% ahead of forecasts.
Airtours chairman David Crossland said: “It is evident that
the changes introduced by the new management team are delivering significant
improvements in profit. With strong forward bookings in all our markets for the
rest of this summer and for the future seasons on sale, the group is well
placed to deliver sustainable growth.”
