VisitScotland launches Autumn Gold 2001 camapign

VISITSCOTLAND has launched its annual Autumn Gold campaign
to boost tourism in the region.

The campaign, now in its seventh year, aims to encourage
visitors to the region between now and early November, traditionally a quiet
period for Scotland’s tourism industry. It will take the form of press
advertising and direct mail-outs.

A key element of Autumn Gold 2001 will be a late
availability section on the VisitScotland website, www.visitscotland.com, which will
allow hoteliers to advertise last minute accommodation.

VisitScotland chief executive Philip Riddle said: “Over the years
Autumn Gold has developed into a campaign that contributes significantly to the
Scottish economy during the slower period of the tourist season. This year’s
campaign is particularly significant given the difficult summer season the
industry has been experiencing.”
