TRAVEL Deals Direct has launched a website offering
customers detailed information on a variety of the breaks it sells.
The television-based agency has placed in-depth information
and pictures of 180 holidays on the website, www.traveldealsdirect.com.
Customers can chose their holiday on-line, but must book it over the telephone.
Commercial director Gary Wardrope said: “We’ve gone right into the hotels to get
pictures and even have footage of the bathrooms, you can virtually walk around
these properties. People might say we’ve been a bit slow to take up the
Internet but our prime weapon is the television, the web is our support
vehicle.”
Wardrope said viewers of the Travel Deals Direct television
channel could refer to the website for information not featured in its
broadcasts.
In time, flight only deals will be added to the site via a
deal with consolidator Ekonsol. In time the number of breaks featured on-line
will be increased to 500.
Travel Deals Direct has also become one of the travel
providers on the television company Telewest’s Walled Garden service,
increasing its viewer base by 600,000. In addition, anyone with either a cable
or ADSL link and uses BT as their Internet service provider can now access
Travel Deals Direct’s services.
