ON-LINE agency ebookers.com is looking to make
redundancies following the US terrorist attacks on September 11.
The company is reviewing its operations to decide how many
people will have to go and from what areas of the business. Staff willing to
leave voluntarily have been asked to come forward.
Chief financial officer Navneet Bali said: “We are looking
all across the company although it is very close to what happened on September
11 so we are not sure what areas will be affected. We need to assess the
situation.”
Bali added the company’s rapid expansion over the past year
is unlikely to continue.
In the week following the tragedy in the US, ebookers issued
a statement claiming there had only been 650 cancellations.
Ebookers is expected to reveal further details bout the
redundancies when it issues its third quarter results on October 29.
