THE WILDFOWL and Wetlands Trust’s Wetland Centre in London
has been chosen as the leading sustainable project at this year’s British
Airways’ Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.
The centre was created from four disused reservoirs and
attracts a large number of visitors each year, including overseas and UK
tourists. It boasts 105 acres of wetlands, attracting 140 wild bird species.
Chairman of the award’s global judging panel Professor David
Bellamy said: “The Wetland Centre in Barnes is the only great project of its
kind working to this scale, and as such is a superb role-model for all our
great cities.”
