NORTHWEST
Airlines has ditched the use of artificial sweeteners and powdered milk products from its aircraft
following the anthrax attacks in the US.
An
airline spokesman said the carrier had been forced into the move after some passengers mistook spillages of the white powdery substances as
the biological killer. Two Northwest flights in the US have already been
subject to lengthy delays in the last two weeks because of mix ups.
Passengers will be allowed to bring
their own sweetener and creamers on board, although the airline said it
“would rather they
not“.
Sugar and salt still is being served
on board because their crystals are larger and easier to identify.
Northwest operates flights out of the UK from Gatwick
to Detroit and Minneapolis.
