Mykonos
A beautiful harbour and good sandy beaches make this one of the
most popular Greek islands.
But it is also one of the most expensive and shop, restaurant
and bar staff seem weary of visitors. Mykonos Town is a maze of
cobbled streets selling almost everything from designer clothes to
tacky souvenirs. There’s also shop after shop of gold jewellery.
But it is at night when Mykonos Town comes alive, with plenty of
bars and nightclubs. Upmarket venues can be found at Little
Venice.
On the south coast, there are several beaches that can be
reached by frequent buses from Mykonos Town. Paradise Beach is the
most famous, but also the most crowded. There is an accommodation
information office near the ferry quay, but it is advisable to book
in advance during high season.
good for: party animals, beaches and shoppers.
recommendations: Katerina’s Bar in Little Venice, Mykonos Town,
is on two floors and overlooks the sea. It has an Internet
