Ebookers plans staff cutbacks
ON-LINE agency ebookers.com is looking to make redundancies following the US terrorist attacks on September 11.
The company is reviewing its operations to decide where it can shed staff – and how many people will have to go. Workers willing to leave voluntarily have been asked to come forward.
Chief financial officer Navneet Bali said: “We are looking across the company, although it is still early, so we are not sure what areas will be affected. We need to assess the situation.”
Bali predicted that the company’s rapid expansion over the past year was unlikely to continue.
In the week following the tragedy in the US, ebookers issued a statement claiming it only received 650 cancellations.
The company is expected to reveal further details bout the redundancies when it issues its third-quarter results on October 29.
