TECHNOLOGY company TelMe has launched a new web-based
booking and information system for travel agents.
The system, called Farebase.co.uk, works as a one-stop shop
allowing agents to search the databases of several consolidators at the same
time to find the best low cost airfares, charter flights and late availability
holidays.
It also works as a portal helping agents to find the
information they require without trawling through irrelevant websites on the
Internet.
So far Unijet, Travel-Centre and Lupus Travel are displaying
their fares on Farebase.co.uk, although more consolidators are to be introduced
over the coming weeks.
TelMe On-line Services managing director Ian Sinderson said:
“The Farebase portal will allow travel agents to use Internet technology
effectively as an in-house tool. Consolidators will also find real cost
benefits, receiving fully completed bookings from agency customers ready for
ticketing, a real labour saving device compared to the current call centre only
practices.”
