NO-FRILLS start-up LOCO Flights is spending £50,000 on a
January marketing campaign to launch its new services from Manchester to
Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante.
A six-week billboard campaign in Manchester, Bolton and
Warrington will start on December 31, while a six-month sponsorship of the
weather page in the Manchester Evening News kicks off on January 2 – the day
the first LOCO tickets go on sale.
Advertising will highlight how much traditional charters
spend on providing in-flight meals, according to LOCO parent HCCT Holidays head
of sales Rachael Pettit.
“We’ll be making the point that holidaymakers who travel on
traditional charter services could be paying the same for their in-flight main
course as they are in an exclusive restaurant,” she said.
A further campaign is being planned for Newcastle, from
where LOCO will launch flights to Malaga and Tenerife in May. LOCO tickets
lead-in at £149 from Manchester to Malaga.
