gatwick express cuts services

GATWICK Express has cancelled its night services
between the airport and London’s Victoria station due to plummeting passenger
numbers.

The express rail service has been badly hit by the
reduction of transatlantic flights from Gatwick post September 11 and British
Airways’ decision to move services from Gatwick to Heathrow.

The last train for Gatwick Airport now leaves Victoria
at 12.30am and the service does not resume until 4.30am when a half hourly
service leaves on the hour and the half hour.

The last train for London Victoria is now at 1.35am
and starting again at 5.20am with a half hourly service at 20 and 50 minutes
past the hour.

Gatwick Express insisted the
move was a temporary measure and services would be reintroduced if there was
demand for them.
