Seychelles website to target niche markets
THE SEYCHELLES Tourism Marketing Authority is to launch a website next month to increase awareness of itsproduct. The authority, which was set up in June 1999, will use the site to target the niche markets of fishing, sailing,diving, ecology and romance.
“There is a real lack of information about the Seychelles right now,” said Althea Hall, manager, destination management systems and advertising.
“In some markets people have heard of the Seychelles, but they have no idea what it’s all about.”
The site, www.aspureasitgets.com, will feature basic information on the destination, including updates on new products and promotions. Pages dedicated to five niche markets will be added by March.
There will also be links to hotels, airlines and tour operators and their booking engines.
At present the site is only in English, but it will be translated into French, Italian, Spanish and German.
Director of marketing operations, Jenni Harris, said it was aimed at the European, rather than US market. “We are a small destination so we don’t really want to attract the large US market, but the US is very web-driven so we expect it will increase awareness in thatmarket too,” she said.
