* Airline insurance to soar six-fold next year
Airlines flying during 2002 face insurance costs six times higher than this year, according to the International Air Transport Association. The six-fold premium hike is solely as a result of the attacks on New York and Washington on September 11.
* Driveline signs FSSdeal for powerres
Travel technology provider FSS has signed a deal to provide short-break specialist Driveline Europe with its PowerRes system. PowerRes will handle Driveline’s administration and bookings, including on-line reservations, when it goes live next spring.
* carnival cruise lines predicts revenue fall
Carnival Cruise Lines is predicting a 15% drop in revenue next year despite selling out of cruise holiday bargains. Passengers have been lured on to the ships by low-price cruises but this will reduce fourth-quarter profits by $85 million.
