A ONE-HOUR strike by security staff at Manchester airport passed
off without incident this morning.
Members of the Transport and General Workers Union held the
strike between 7am and 8am in protest at budget cuts they claim could result in
200 job losses. The strike was the second in a series of planned hour-long stoppages,
A spokesman for the airport said there had been 13 arrivals
and 32 departures during the hour and none of them experienced delays as
contingency measures were put in place to keep services operating.
The next stoppage is planned on February 9 between 5am and
6am.
