VIRGIN Atlantic is threatening to pull its India
service unless it is allowed to expand its flight frequency to the country.
The airline currently operates two services a week
from Heathrow to New Delhi, but has said it is not economically viable to carry
on unless it can extend that to six flights.
Open skies talks between the UK and Indian governments
stalled last week and Virgin chairman Sir Richard Branson said Virgin could
pull out if an agreement is not reached in the next round of talks in two
weeks.
He said: “We have lost
many millions of pounds operating the service to India. We are profitable on
all of our other routes and would be to India as well if the skies were opened
up.”
