US carriers have announced a fresh round of job cuts as the
global downturn in the airline industry continues to bite.
United Airlines said 1,250 jobs will go in America,
including the closure of three reservation centres, while Delta Airlines said
it must reduce staff numbers by 7,000 to 8,000.
