Airtours appoints director to secure new hotel contracts

AIRTOURS is stepping up its bid to take greater control of its product by appointing a senior director to examine further hotel acquisitions.

Accommodation division financial director David Wright has been promoted to deputy chief executive officer of the division with specific responsibility for acquisition and development opportunities within the hotel sector.

The move comes as operators recognise the need to set long-term hotel contracts.

Wright’s current position will be taken by Paul Waring, who moves from head of group internal audit.

In a further move, Luton Airport chief executive Frank Pullman has been appointed managing director of Sun Cruises. He takes up his position in the Airtours group headquarters in Manchester this month.

“The cruise sector is a young part of the industry which is growing rapidly and has huge potential,” said Pullman.
