17 dead after Luxair plane crash

AT
least 17 people have died after a plane crashed near Luxembourg airport.

Reports
say the Luxair aircraft, a Fokker-50 turboprop, crashed in a wooded area at
about 10.15am this morning as it was coming in to land.

It
was carrying 19 passengers and three crew en route from Berlin-Tempelhof,
officials said.

Luxembourg
airport is now closed, with incoming flights diverted to other airports in
Germany and Belgium.

Luxair said the aircraft had been in service since
1991.
