Fitz-Gerald leaves Avro

AVRO commercial director John Fitz-Gerald
has left the company over the future direction of the business.

Fitz-Gerald, who had been with Avro for six years,
left suddenly this month.

It is believed his relationship with new managing
director Andrew Nicholson had become strained, although Nicholson denied this.

“It was a very amicable decision – there was no
fall-out,” Nicholson said. “John and I have been talking since I arrived about
a whole range of issues, where the business is going and plans for the future
and we both felt it was the right move.

“I think he wants to try other things.”

Fitz-Gerald said he had plans, but nothing concrete.

Nicholson said Avro was looking to extend the
product’s distribution channels. “This isn’t a move away from the trade – we
just want to be in the public consciousness when they buy flights.”
