British Airways has appointed Willie Walsh as chief
executive.
The former Aer Lingus boss becomes chief executive designate at
BA on May 3 and will take over from Rod Eddington in September.
Walsh is credited with turning Aer Lingus’ fortunes around
post-September 11 with a mixture of low prices to compete with
Ryanair and a focus on Internet sales. He will concentrate on BA’s
key customer demands of value-for-money and service.
