WORLDSPAN has launched electronic ticketing in the UK with British Airways, United Airways and Trans World Airlines and will be rolling out the facility across Europe next year.
Worldspan product manager, industry affairs Mike Walker said: “E-ticketing is now dominant in the US, where in August the issue of electronic tickets outstripped paper tickets for the first time and we expect it to assume greater importance in Europe as agents and airlines realise its benefits.”
Worldspan agents can revalidate flights electronically if there is a change in flight date or numbers that do not affect the air fare.
Worldspan has also launched a system which enables travel agents to check that an e-ticket can be issued for the flight they are booking before the request is sent to the carrier.
