EasyJet launches five routes from Bristol

EASYJET will launch five new routes from Bristol this summer.

Tickets to Rijeka in Croatia, Cracow in Poland, La Rochelle, Marseille and Toulouse in France have gone on sale for flights starting July 21.

Rijeka is significant because it is outside the European Union, and comes hot on the heels of news EasyJet will start flying to Istanbul, Marrakesh and Rijeka from Luton and Gatwick from May.

A spokeswoman said some established summer sun destination routes are now saturated, which is why the airline is looking for new non-EU markets.

Rival low-cost carrier Atlas Blue, which currently operates four times a week between Gatwick and Marrakesh, has responded by promising to operate daily flights from April.

“Any promotion EasyJet can bring to the destination is good for the market but we are already seeing demand for flights every day of the week,” said an Atlas Blue spokesman.

EasyJet¹s new Bristol routes mean the hub will represent about 10% of EasyJet¹s total business.

Other new EasyJet routes launching this summer include Gatwick to Split, Luton to Bordeaux and Rimini, Edinburgh to Alicante, and Paris Orly to Ajaccio.
