VisitBritain produces training CD-Rom

VisitBritain are to launch a new interactive CD-Rom to help agents sell more domestic holidays.

The CD-Rom, produced to support VisitBritain’s Enjoy England campaign, is being backed by multiples and consortia.

Groups involved in the training initiative will give their endorsement by putting their logos on the CD wallet that will be sent out to their agents.

The training tool is also designed to be customer-facing, so agents will be able to use it to view images, interactive maps and pictures with voiceovers.

Enjoy England sales and marketing manager Claire Hancer said: “It means when a customer comes into an agency asking for holiday ideas in Cumbria, all agents will need to do is go to the drop-down bar, click on Cumbria and all the operators which have accommodation and attractions in the area will be shown and agents will be able to click right through to brochures.”

There will also be an agent zone with monthly competitions as a way of getting agents to re-use the CD-Rom.

“It will be a great training tool for agents to learn more about England’s regions and attractions, how to sell England and why they should sell it,” Hancer added.

Meanwhile, VisitBritain is running an Experience England promotion with Advantage Travel Centres throughout July. The campaign includes large window posters and agent fact files with ideas of how to sell domestic holidays.

A new survey has revealed that the UK remains the most popular holiday destination for British adults.

More than 2,500 adults were asked by YouGov where they had taken their holidays over the past two years. The survey found 68% had holidayed in the UK, followed by 57% who travelled to Europe.

“We were intrigued to note that it was the number-one destination in every demographic, for all ages, income levels, genders and regions,” said Tony Shawcross, senior managing consultant at MasterCard Advisors, who commissioned the study.
