Barbados supplement 2006

Welcome to Barbados

What a year we have ahead of us! Over the next 12 months we will be giving our visitors such outstanding experiences, it really won’t get better than Barbados!

We are the proud host to two world-class sporting events, each of which will showcase our beautiful island to both the people who attend the events and the millions around the world who will watch them on TV.

Between December 5 and 10 2006 Barbados will be the venue for the PGA World Golf Championships – Barbados World Cup, when the globe’s leading golfers will be competing against each other on the Sandy Lane Country Club Course for this prestigious prize.

Then, in April 2007 we will be at the heart of the ICC Cricket World Cup as the Caribbean island hosting key Super Eight matches, followed by the final on April 28.

As you would expect, in Barbados these events will be more than just sporting occasions. They will offer the chance to have a great time with friends, family and colleagues.

Around each of them we are planning a variety of activities and entertainment, in the true Bajan style, which will ensure our visitors go home with Barbadian memories they will never forget.

Our love of sport is matched by our love of life, which is why Barbados is such a wonderful place to visit. Enjoying the golf and the cricket is important, but it’s also about experiencing everything else our island has to offer in terms of outstanding accommodation, restaurants, attractions, history and culture.

When combined with the warmth of the Bajan people, our visitors will have world-class experiences that will prompt them to
return to Barbados time and time again, which is why over 40% of visitors do so.

And to make their stay even better, this summer we’ve launched the Barbados VIP Card, which enables our visitors to have a
true VIP experience when visiting our attractions, and we’ll treat them to a free place for every one they buy.

What more can I say? You certainly get a lot from Barbados!
