n casa de campo refurbishment



Casa de Campo resort in the Dominican Republic has just completed a £15m refurbishment. Its three golf courses include Teeth of the Dog, the only course with seven holes skirting the Caribbean.



n seventh course for tenerife



Tenerife is to open its seventh course – designed by Seve Ballesteros at Isla Baja in the northwest of the island – for winter 2000/01. Three further openings are planned by 2003.



n marbella hotel reopens



The five-star hotel Le Meridien Los Monteros near Marbella has reopened after an 18-month refurbishment programme. The hotel, popular with golfers, is next to the Rio Real course.



n thai golf package for £1,499



Journeys of Distinction has introduced the 17-night Thai Golf Royale package, playing 12 of Thailand’s top courses, for £1,499. Flights, transfers, four-star hotel accommodation and green fees are included. Departure date is March 6 2000.



n millennium course to open



Vilamoura in the Algarve is due to open its new Millennium Course in 2000. It will consist of nine new holes and nine holes from the existing27-hole Laguna course. Vilamoura has renovated its other two courses – Pinhal and the Old Course.



n second course for algarve



A second course is planned for the Lagos area of the Algarve. The existing course, the 5,961 metre Palmares, is the Algarve’s oldest course.



n longshot golf appointment



Longshot Golf holidays has appointed Ian McLeod to handle its groups and specialist accounts. McLeod, a five-handicap player, was formerly a Longshot golf reservations consultant.
