Improving the integration of Gatwick Express into the travel industry.



n What, apart from your current position, would be your ideal job in travel?



Managing director of a major airline would be very challenging.



n What has been your most embarrassing moment in the travel industry?



Organising a corporate hospitality evening and not telling the managing director it was black tie.



n Which company, apart from your own, do you most admire and why?



It has to be Microsoft, its product is an industry standard and they continue to innovate and encourage loyalty through reward.



n What single thing have you achieved at work which has given you the most satisfaction?



The Gatwick Express corporate identity.



n What advice would you give to someone starting out in the travel industry?



Work hard, play hard and always keep your passport ready.



n If you weren’t in travel, what would you be doing?



Sports journalism.



n How many travel agents do you estimate there will be left in the UK in five years’ time?



Significantly fewer!



n Do you agree with travel agents charging a fee for their work?



If their product knowledge and customer service warrants it.

Not taking golf lessons as a teenager.

A Formula One test driver at Monaco.

Trekking in Nepal with Cindy Crawford.



n What is the most memorable destination you’ve visited and why?



Cairo, seeing the pyramids at dawn was fantastic.



n What is your favourite TV programme/film/book?



My favourite TV programme is Have IGot News For You. The film has to be A Few Good Men and the book is definitely Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.



n What type of holiday would you avoid at all costs?



A fishing trip.



n How do you relax?



Watching sport on TV(although anyone within earshot might not think I’m relaxed).



n What would you have put on your gravestone?

In 1993 was promoted to British Airway’s marketing communications department as marketing executive. Joined Gatwick Express as head of marketing in 1997.
