Southeast and South Asia
Southeast and South Asia is a diverse region, including India, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines – with myriad cultures, beautiful landscapes and fascinating sights.
A vast region on its own, India saw 17% more UK visitors in 2005 than in 2004, which was also up 20% (source: India Tourism), partly thanks to a huge increase in airlift. The country is one of the fastest growing destinations for the luxury traveller.
Old favourite Thailand shows no sign of waning, with the UK market the most important in Europe, and neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia are winning more market share too. Singapore is particularly popular for stopover clients heading Down Under, while Cambodia, a relative newcomer to the market, is being featured by more operators than ever.
InterContinental has six hotels in India. One each in the Philippines, Singapore and Cambodia, and two in Indonesia – Bali and Jakarta. We will also be moving beyond Bangkok onto Thailand’s beaches, with new hotels in Phi Phi, Pattaya and Koh Samui in the pipeline.
In India, a choice of six properties await your clients with InterContinental New Delhi Nehru Place, InterContinental The Grand New Delhi, the boutique InterContinental Mumbai Marine Drive, InterContinental The Grand Mumbai, InterContinental The Grand Goa Resort, and InterContinental The Grand Srinagar in the north.
Indonesia has two very different properties. The 325-room InterContinental Jakarta MidPlaza in the city’s business district boasts 20 meeting and banquet rooms, while InterContinental Bali Resort enjoys a spectacular beach setting with six swimming pools among its facilities.
InterContinental Manila in the Philippines has a prime location on One Ayala Avenue in the Central Business District of Makati City. Set in tropical gardens, there are 338 rooms, 59 suites and nine meeting and banqueting rooms.
In the historic district of Bugis, InterContinental Singapore reflects Peranakan heritage, with 403 beautifully decorated rooms and 10 meeting and banquet rooms.
In Thailand, InterContinental Bangkok lies at the heart of the business and commercial districts. Combining Thai elegance with expansive views, the property appeals to the business and leisure markets and has 381 rooms, 24 meeting and banquet rooms and a spa.
For travellers to the newly popular Cambodia, InterContinental Phnom Penh is the premier hotel in the new commercial district, great for both business and leisure guests.
