Thanksgiving boost for Travelocity – 23 Nov 2006

Travelocity has seen a 50% increase in US city breaks covering the annual Thanksgiving holiday.

Las Vegas booking are up 300% year on year, Washington DC is experiencing a 190% increase, Philadelphia and Miami are up by around one third.

New York – which hosts a Thanksgiving Day Parade – has seen a sales increase of 19%.

Travelocity.co.uk managing director Ned Booth said UK holiday makers use Thanksgiving as an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping while enjoying the festivities.

“There are no national holidays in the UK between The August Bank Holiday and Christmas so thanksgiving is the perfect reason to make a mini-break pre-Christmas and get the Christmas shopping done too,” said Booth.

Thanksgiving is today, November 23.
