UK support for Legacy Hotels boycott grows – 12 Dec 2006

Support has grown in the UK to boycott Legacy Hotels after the company announced plans to build a hotel complex close to Victoria Falls.

Tour operator Tribes managing director Amanda Marks said “more and more operators are voicing their concern” including NatureTrek and public relations company Classic Representation. Other firms already against the multi-million pound development include Expert Africa and Wildlife Worldwide.

However Legacy Group Holdings has defended the plans and has said 1,850 jobs would be created plus a further 10,000 as a result of indirect employment. According to Legacy there is no wildlife on the site apart from elephant and hippo and that it would reintroduce wildlife to the area.
