At the recent Midconsort Conference in Palma I was approached by delegates expressing their annoyance with the failure of Allegro Holidays. At World Travel Market more people asked why my old company had gone bust.
I shall be grateful if you could make it clear that the Turkish specialist Allegro Holidays has nothing to do with my old Allegro Holidays. The latter was a trading name of Bluebird Holidays. I am amazed that ABTA allowed the Turkish specialist to become a member under the name of Allegro Holidays as the rules state that a name belonging to another member and registered with ABTA cannot be used by another member. I know that it was not sold on and am concerned that my own name may get tarnished through the wrong association.
I am, of course, proud that the old Allegro Holidays is still remembered by so many, but sad that any residual value in the name has now completely disappeared. Perhaps ABTA might like to explain? Incidentally, I am glad to be with a company whose reputation is even better!
