Sales staff to promote BIA’s developments with agency visits

MARKETEERS from Birmingham International Airport are visiting travel agencies in and around Birmingham this month.

The outside firm of sales staff will brief agents on developments at the airport, new routes and timetables.

The airport’s director of business development Peter Vella said the agent briefings will go some way to quashing the lack of awareness among the trade about what Birmingham can offer.

The airport holds three blitzes a year on local agents to raise its profile.

Ease of check-in, parking, public transport links and services will be stressed during the talks with agents.

The airport will also promote its 40,000-strong membership scheme which gives passengers cheap flights, lounge access and other benefits. Vella is aiming to raise membership to 100,000 by next year.
