Carrivick quits DFDS following takeover by Britannic Travel

DFDS managing director Mike Carrivick is to leave the business travel agency at the end of the year following his company’s acquisition by rival Britannic Travel.

Britannic bought DFDS 10 days ago for an undisclosed sum and announced it would start amalgamating the agency into its own company this week (Travel Weekly November 22).

All 20 employees at DFDShave been offered jobs at Britannic, and staff have starting moving out of DFDS’ central London head office. They will be based at either Britannic’s head office in New Malden, or its City of London location.

Carrivick said he was offered a senior management position by Britannic managing director Alan Spence, but has decided not to take up the offer.

He said: “Britannic offered jobs to everybody. I could have had a senior job, but I have decided to take advantage of a departure clause in my contract, rather than join Britannic and leave within two or three months.”

As yet Carrivick is undecided about his future, but two or three people have contacted him over positions within business travel.
