Guests evacuated after blaze at The Ritz – 29 Jan 2007

Around 300 guests and staff at The Ritz Hotel were force to leave after a fire broke out at the central London hotel on Saturday.


The London Fire Brigade attended the blaze in Piccadilly at 14.20 and were there for more than two hours. The fire started in the basement on a pipe which runs the length of the seven-storey building.


The basement suffered minor damage and staff and guest were allowed back to the hotel in the early evening.
