THE DUTY-Free Confederation will be renamed in the new year to reflect its new purpose after the abolition of duty free.
Secretary general Barry Goddard said: “We will be focused on co-ordinating attempts to sort out the replacement regime for the duty-free system.”
A new name for the group will be discussed at a DFC meeting later this week.
Goddard estimated that 2,000 people in the transport and supplies industries have already lost their jobs due to the abolition of duty-free.
