The opening of the 440-bed Hilton at St Julian’s has been delayed to early March. The hotel is part of the 31-acre Portomaso project, which also includes a yacht marina and apartments.

Grand UK Holidays for the over-55s has added Malta holidays at Bugibba Holiday Complex for 2000. Two weeks’ full-board cost from £469 and a fortnights’self-catering from £299.



n cottonera project starts



Work is due to start soon on the Cottonera leisure development on the Three Cities side of Grand Harbour. The project includes a 500-berth yacht marina, casino and 70-room boutique hotel.



n sunspot incentive gifts



Sunspot is offering a free harbour cruise, free guidebook and starter food pack (self-catering only) to clients who book at least eight weeks before departure.

Flight-only prices to Malta in Belleair’s summer 2000 brochure start at £147 from Gatwick, £149 from Stansted and £169 from Heathrow. Prices are available from 13 UK airports.

Prestige Holidays is featuring the five-star San Lawrenz Leisure Resort in Gozo this winter. Seven nights with breakfast lead in at £393; seven nights’ half-board is priced from £480.

Air Malta is offering through booking from the UK to Tripoli and Benghazi. It follows the resumption of flights from Malta to Libya after the lifting of the United Nations embargo.



n New hotel opens in sliema



The four-star Waterfront Hotel has opened on the Strand in the Gzira area of Sliema. The166-room property has a rooftop pool and sun terraces.



n belleair expands options



Belleair is offering 14-nightMalta-Sicily twin-centre holidays from £638 next summer. The lead-in price includes seven nights each at the Marina in Sliema and the Villa Riis in Taormina.
