Agents will remain key to Jet Airways’ sales efforts in the UK, according to UK general manager Sarah Built.
“The majority of sales in the UK are through the trade and we need to get our name known to the public,” said Built. “When people phone a travel agent, we want them to ask, ‘Does Jet have seats available?’
Built also insisted that there will be no price war to India from the UK despite the carrier’s rapid expansion. “We do not intend to cut prices to sell products. We have made a big investment to offer great value for money.”
She conceded poor airport infrastructure in India poses a problem. “Mumbai and Delhi airports desperately need upgrading. The idea is to have staff everywhere to help passengers handle any difficulty.”
