Tough trading conditions in the UK tourism market contributed to a widening in TUI AG’s losses for the first quarter to £80 million, compared with £64 million a year earlier.
The parent company of Thompson said that while travel sector revenue rose to £1.77 billion from £1.71 billion, year-on-year losses in the sector before interest, tax and amortisation tripled to £161 million £57 million for the quarter.
Group sales at TUI AG dropped 2.5 percent to £2.8 billion.
