Restaurant chain

PLANET Hollywood has raised commission for the trade from 20% to up to 50%.

At the same time, the restaurant chain has reduced its lead price for groups of 30-plus people from £12.50 to £7.95 net.

The changes have been introduced to coincide with the launch of a new look for the restaurants away from the Hollywood theming and big logos to a more contemporary look under the Planet 2000 brand.

They will also be offering new menus and merchandising.

European sales director Mark Miller said the London restaurant is one of the first to undergo change and is planning to unveil its new look on Thursday.

He denied the increase in commission, up to 50% depending on volumes, was linked to Planet Hollywood’s financial troubles.

The chain is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US.

“Inbound domestic operators, ticket agencies, airlines and domestic coach operators account for 40% of Planet Hollywood’s 1m customers each year so they are very important to us,” Miller said.
