Dover-based French travel specialist The Travel Market has teamed up with CO2balance.com to launch a carbon offsetting programme for ferry bookings.
The company, which offers travel with all of the UK’s major ferry companies via sites such as the Ferry Travel Club, claims its FerryGreen.com site is the first of its kind in the industry.
Customers making a booking are presented with a ‘make this booking green’ tick box. A carbon calculator then calculates the CO2 emissions and offers the choice of offsetting the emissions by either planting a tree, supporting energy efficiency, or investing in the European Union Emission Trading Scheme.
