Association of Independent Tour Operators chairman Derek Moore has warned new Government guidelines on package holidays are no help to travel agents.
Speaking at AITO’s summer barbecue in London, he warned that there is still a lack of clarity over the issue and that members must continue to protect themselves accordingly.
He added: “Nothing is any clearer and we are left looking for guidance notes on the guidance notes.
“There is still no 100% certainty as to what a package holiday is or what constitutes a tailor-made holiday.”
Moore also took the opportunity to praise AITO members for continuing to source niche product, which he said is driving their businesses forward while many mainstream operators suffer in the increasingly depressed market.
