Niche Cruise Alliance disunites – 16 Jul 2007

Specialist cruise consortium Niche Cruise Alliance has been dissolved after three years because travel agents are now more aware of the individual organisations it is made up of.

The Niche Cruise Alliance was set up in 2004 and members included African Safari Club, Hurtigruten, Venice Simplon – Orient-Express, RMS St Helena, Star Clippers and Viking River Cruises.

Its aim was to create awareness of specialist cruise companies in the travel trade and its last project was to launch a training website for agents. The members will still work on joint marketing and training initiatives together.

Niche Cruise Alliance spokesman and Hurtigruten UK managing director Iain Cottam said: “The members have had a very successful three years and feel that they have all benefited enormously from being part of the alliance the contacts they have made.

“Niche cruising has increased by more than 30% and this should be a tribute to the organisations involved.”
