Galileo upgrade opens up 300 million rail journeys – 29 Aug 2007

Galileo has gone live with its new booking system giving agents the ability to book more rail products in the UK and print their own tickets.

The global distribution system has now introduced Galieo Rail for Agents as a replacement for its old system, Galileo RailMaster – giving agents access to almost 300 million journeys and fares for National Rail services.

Galileo Rail for Agents features the option to offer the ticket on departure (TOD) network for FastTicket machines as well as printing off their own credit card-sized tickets.

Agents will also earn 9% commission on every booking and will not need their own Association of Train Operating Companies licence.

Galileo UK and Ireland general manager Patrick Lukan said: “We have received some fantastic feedback from agents since they were first introduced to Galileo Rail for Agents in April this year. We recognise that rail will continue to be an important part of the content and service our customers need to provide to their travellers.”
