Voting opens for 2008 Globe Travel Awards – 06 Sep 2007

Voting opens today for the 2008 Globe Travel Awards, presented by Travel Weekly in partnership with Associated Newspapers.

Nominations are being taken for 45 supplier awards, giving agents the chance to reward companies that work closely with the trade and deliver a high standard of product to holidaymakers.

The Globe Travel Awards is the travel industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony and remains among the few industry accolades that is voted for purely by travel agents. Awards are also given for innovation and achievement.

Travel Weekly editor Sarah Longbottom said: “The Globe Travel Awards are going from strength to strength and are further evidence of our continuing commitment to highlighting and rewarding industry excellence.”

Consumer awards are voted for by readers of Associated Newspapers’ publications and next year will be presented alongside the trade awards.

The Globe Travel Awards has taken its new name in recognition of the importance of the consumer awards and to mark its evolution into a major travel event. Guests can expect the usual glittering ceremony complete with a celebrity presenter, a drinks reception, casino, Piano Bar and first-class entertainment – all thanks to our sponsors.

The voting process has two stages and is overseen by an independent company. Travel Weekly readers nominate a supplier against each award. These are then collated into a shortlist, released for final voting between November 16–30.

The 2008 Globes Travel Awards will take place in the Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane on January 15.
