South Africa is experiencing an increase in visitors from the UK, according to figures from South African Tourism.
Figures for January to July show an increase of 3.2%in visitors, with a total of 274,616 peoplearriving from the UK, compared with 266,172 for the same period in 2006.
UK country manager for South African Tourism Lebo Mokhesi attributed the increase to the growing popularity of South Africa as part of a twin centre holiday.
“There is anemerging trend for UK visitors to use South Africa as a gateway to other African countries, many visitors are choosing to go to South Africa for the first part of their holiday.”
